Too busy to job hunt?

Andy Oakes
Name Daniel Cornwell
Age

A staggeringly old 32

Location

Born in Ely, Cambridgeshire, home to the ‘Ship of the Fens’, the stunning Ely Cathedral and not much else.

Previous experience in the industry?

3 ½ years at Michael Page, setting up and helping run a couple of offices for them
7 (fantastic) months at TMP (now Hudson) establishing and running Retail for them in the UK.
3 ½ years at R3, one of the founding Directors, specialising in Senior Middle Management recruitment in Retail and Sales.

Favourite food?

Where do I start? curry, fajitas, and anything spicy… but if marooned on a desert island I would kill for a pack of Walkers Salt and Vinegar crisps.

Do you have any pets?

Up until January - Oscar, but he passed away this year.

If you could possess ONE superpower - what would it be and why?

The ability to hear everything from a distance, as I am really nosy.

Who do you look up to an aspire to be?

In business I have worked for a number of inspiring and motivational leaders, have met a number of leading retailers who continue to amaze and inspire, and have worked with fantastic and diverse teams whom I always like to learn from.
In my personal life my parents, wife and brother are both huge influences on me especially as my father died when I was young. One of my biggest drivers is ‘making him proud!’  I would also love to have the patience of my wife, and bring the joy and happiness into people’s lives that my daughter has brought to mine.
Celebrities I admire are usually either footballers (but only Cambridge United ones), (slightly clichéd) great leaders (Ghandhi, Mandela etc…), business leaders who do things differently (Michael O’Leary, Richard  Branson) and also people who triumph through adversity – such as Jane Tomlinson, who is a great example to us all.

Favourite type of holiday?

Diving, diving and diving. Preferably 300 miles out to sea with hundreds of sharks. Not in a cage. The bigger the better. Only in warm water.
I can’t stand ‘beach’ holidays – I mean what is the point of just lying there doing nothing?

What is your worst habit?

Can be known to rant on the odd occasion...!

What do you consider your most useful trait to others?

I would like to think I am generous and genuinely care about people’s development and opportunities to progress. I would hope people would say I didn’t compromise on my values.

If you could choose to be on one reality TV programme which would you choose and why?

Big Brother if I was allowed to take a shotgun in. My hatred for this show, how it affects the UK’s society, and the ‘celebrities’ it produces knows no bounds.

What five words best describe you?

Intelligent, honest, WYSIWYG, risk-averse, driven.
